Lifetime Achievement
Lifetime Achievement We spend our days scribbling, as if our lives depended on it. We seek the proper molecular arrangement of randomly-given molecules, and attain this by making the least electronegative element the central atom, then drawing a line between two electrons to bond them, and counting, to see if it contained the correct number of electrons needed to make an octet. We grope around Lewis structures, looking for the right combination Of the number of electrons to be distributed Between the waiting elements, figuring out how many bonds there are between them, and what their formal charges are, if any. And we sit back and stare at What we’ve done, Some pencil scribbles occupying a sixth Of a white, spiral notebook paper. |
